in the left margin you'll see CHURCH TAX INFORMATION
hover over that and select Tax Exempt Status (Now you are at the site where the link "CLICK ME" above takes you.)
GROUP RULING LETTER: The Group Ruling Letter (pdf) is the IRS letter that determined the status of The United Methodist Church and and affiliated religions organizations as exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. PRINT THIS DOCUMENT for your file. UNLESS you want a letter stating that your church is included under that Group Rulling ... Instead, go to NEXT STEP.
ALTERNATIVE Step: To receive a letter that specifies your church name, being included under The United Methodist Church ruling, click on the next LINK on the page to go to theGCFA Group Ruling Website.
You'll complete a very short online application. Start by clicking on Begin Application. (Application Overview appears -- at buttom click on Continue,
[The following instruction is given in the Group Ruling Quick Guideoffered at the bottom of the Frequently asked Questions page in the gray under the Submit button.]
All you need is to enter:
your Employer Identification Number (EIN) Submit
a. select Local Church and enter your Church Name, City & State where located
b. Annual Conference - select from dropdown box Virgini
c. District - select from dropdown box Elizabeth Rive
d. Other doesn't apply to churches.
Click on Send.
After you complete the options above, a form with your church's name, address & EIN information will auto-populate and open.
At the bottom of the form you will have the opportunity to enter your CHARTER DATE, your Name & Title, (Phone # and email are optional, however, entering an email allows your letter to be emailed to you.)
Just before the end, there is a comment box for you to enter corrections to any erroneous auto-populated information. Submitting a comment suspends the Group Ruling application and GCFA's legal department will contact you.
Finally, there is a box for you to CHECK representing your oath that you are the authorized person and the information given is true, etc.
Automatically a letter will generate with the date, church name, and all other information that was given, Re: Certification of the Inclusion in The United Methodist Church Group Tax Exemption Ruling ... Affiliated Organization: Church name & EIN.
You can click on Save to your computer and/or click on Email and it will be emailed to the email address given at the end of the application and you can save to your computer from there.
